Mimosa Hostilis Root Bark – MHRB – Jurema Preta, Mimosa Tenuiflora

The inner root bark of the Mimosa hostilis tree, commonly known as Jurema, Jurema Preta, Black Jurema, or Vinho de Jurema, is the most sought-after part of the plant, recognized by local shamans for its entheogenic properties.

Mimosa hostilis originates from Brazil, where it has been used for centuries for various medicinal purposes. The inner portion of the root contains the majority of the active alkaloids, which is the part we offer here at Avalon Magic Plants. In the Western world, Mimosa is often used in Ayahuasca brews as a substitute for other DMT-containing plants such as Psychotria Viridis or Chaliponga.

The primary active ingredient in this part of the plant is N, N-DMT, along with a small amount of β-carbolines. Some sources also mention the presence of 5-MeO-DMT. Although the term *Mimosa Hostilis* is still frequently used, the more recent scientific term *Mimosa tenuiflora* is also employed to describe this root bark. Both names refer to the same product.

Mimosa hostilis in Ayahuasca

Mimosa Hostilis (or Mimosa tenuiflora) is often combined with MAO-inhibiting herbs like Banisteriopsis Caapi to prepare the psychedelic Amazonian brew Ayahuasca. When combined with Peganum Harmala, the brew is called Anahuaca, an Ayahuasca analogue that shares psychedelic traits and produces effects similar to Ayahuasca. The use of this brew is popular among psychonauts, with users often reporting intense experiences.

The effects of an Ayahuasca trip are sometimes compared to a high dose of psilocybin mushrooms, as users often experience significant changes in their perception of the world around them. While some visual effects may be similar, many users report that Ayahuasca induces much more intense and vivid hallucinations. This brew has been utilized for centuries for spiritual purposes and as a therapeutic means to address a wide range of mental health issues.

The Jurema Preta we offer is imported directly from Brazil, and new shipments arrive every month, ensuring that our product is of high quality and always fresh.
